Corporate web sites are boring and generalised to the point of anonymity.  A local web site makes it personal to the local area.  It can also promote special (local) offers, push local causes and generally help become a part of the community rather than just selling to it.

One local franchise that I know of in this area is getting 350 unique visitors per week, which must be helping with sales and the bottom line!

But you have to be an expert with a pc, most owners dont have the time to waste.
Ive seen some on the web and they look like a 6 year old has done them.

Are local communities really that involved in cyber space Huh

Local web sites WORK in the smaller towns, they are a great way to promote your business.
They DO TAKE a lot of time to set up linking to other local traders, but the end result works wonders.

But a word of advise, get a web designer who can build the site so you can make changes later, like adding new menu, changing deals etc.

This will save you a lot of money in the long term Grin
